THE SIDELINES : Louisiana Tech Women Top Poll

Louisiana Tech (14-0), Stanford (15-0), Tennessee (13-3) and UNLV (16-1), the top four teams in the Associated Press women’s basketball poll, avoided upsets that struck others in the rankings and held their positions in the weekly balloting, announced today.

Top-ranked Louisiana Tech received 53 first-place votes and 1,613 points from a nationwide panel of 65 women’s coaches. No. 2 Stanford, which ripped through UCLA and Southern Cal for two Pac-10 road victories, received the other 12 first-place votes and 1,572 points.

They were followed in the top 10 by Tennessee, UNLV, Texas (11-3), Long Beach State (11-3), Georgia (14-2), Washington (14-2), Stephen F. Austin (13-1) and Purdue (12-3).
