Brison Leaves Alemany, Transfers to San Fernando

Brian Brison, Alemany High’s second-leading rusher last football season, said he has transferred to San Fernando after his recent suspension from Alemany for the remainder of the school year.

Brison, a sophomore, said he was suspended from Alemany on Tuesday for “getting in a lot of verbal conflicts with teachers.” He enrolled at San Fernando--his third high school in two years--Thursday.

Brison has been given the option to reapply at Alemany for the fall semester, according to Alemany football Coach Pat Blackburn, who said he believed that Brison would be back. But Brison said he plans to stay at his new school.

“Obviously he’s telling me one thing and telling everyone else another,” Blackburn said.

Brison, who grew up in Pacoima, attended Westlake for a semester before transferring to Alemany last January.

“I don’t want to keep switching right now because, at this time, colleges are looking at you,” said Brison, a water boy at San Fernando High as a youth.

Blackburn agreed.

“You can’t just keep playing musical schools,” he said. “You’ve got to get comfortable at one school.”

Brison, who also played defensive back, gained 238 yards rushing and 208 yards receiving in 1989.

“Brian did a good job for us,” Blackburn said. “We’re obviously going to miss his talent.”

Three days ago, Leonice Brown, Crespi’s leading rusher last season, transferred to San Fernando. Brown cited frustration with his limited offensive role as the primary reason for his decision.
