Thousand Oaks’ Palmisano Scores 50 in 74-51 Win

Michelle Palmisano scored a school-record 50 points Wednesday to lead Thousand Oaks High to a 74-51 win over host Santa Maria in a girls’ Southern Section 5-A Division basketball playoff game.
Palmisano was 16 of 26 from the field--including six three-point baskets--and was 12 of 17 from the line.
Palmisano, a 5-foot-9 sophomore who averages 29.3 points a game, broke her record of 42, a point total she has attained twice this season.
Suzanne Nelinger added 10 points and 13 rebounds for Thousand Oaks (15-11), the third-place team from the Marmonte League.
Palmisano holds the school career scoring record with 1,152 points, which eclipses Shani Smyth’s previous record of 960. She leads the team with averages of 10.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists.
