2nd Suspect Sought in Kidnaping, Hold-Up
Federal agents and Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were still seeking one of two suspects Monday in the kidnaping of a savings and loan supervisor who was held captive in her Palmdale home for 36 hours before deputies rescued her at the branch office during an armed robbery attempt last week.
Tyrone McCraw, 29, described as a transient from the Pomona area, remained at large Monday. Brian Keith Simms of Duarte, also 29, was scheduled for a hearing in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles today on a charge of armed bank robbery. He was being held without bail.
Simms told investigators that he and McCraw once worked for a contractor who did work at the Newhall branch of Southern California Savings, where the incident took place, Sgt. T.J. Hageboeck said.
The two men allegedly invaded the home of assistant manager Denise Adkins Wednesday evening, held Adkins and her husband captive and eventually forced her to accompany them to the branch office. Deputies responding to a silent alarm rescued Adkins and arrested Simms early Friday. But McCraw stole a car and fled.
