Christian Heritage Accelerates to Victory

A slow first half didn’t faze the Christian Heritage men’s basketball team Saturday night at Whittier College, and as a result, the Hawks will play for the NAIA District 3 championship on Tuesday.

Rundy Foster poured in 38 points and Christian Heritage, after suffering through its lowest-scoring half of the season, came back to defeat Fresno Pacific, 84-69.

Foster set a school record for points in a game by a guard, and he made six three-pointers during the second half.

Christian Heritage trailed at halftime, 33-24, but was able to play an up-tempo game in the second half and outscore Fresno Pacific, 60-36. Foster had eight three-pointers, tying Brad Soucie’s school record.

Will Cunningham had 15 points for Christian Heritage, and Soucie had 14.

Troy Brown led Fresno Pacific with 21 points, and Rich Kamminga had 15. But Brown was held to eight second-half points and Kamminga four.

Fresno Pacific’s biggest lead was nine at halftime. Christian Heritage gained its first lead of the second half with 12:56 left when Foster his a three-pointer.
