Houston’s Ware to Skip Senior Year, Enter Draft
Quarterback Andre Ware, who set 25 NCAA records and won the Heisman Trophy in 1989, announced Friday he will skip his final year at Houston and enter the NFL draft.
Ware said he cherished his three years with the Cougars, but a variety of reasons led him to take advantage of the opportunity to play professionally.
“We are here today, but we know not what tomorrow brings,” Ware said, quoting his Sunday School teacher. “I live for today and I didn’t want to come back (to school) and wonder ‘what if I’d left?’ and have that doubt in my mind.”
