Western High School took top place in this week’s annual Kiwanis Bowl competition, scoring victories over 40 other Orange County high schools and the top high school from Clark County, Nev.
The 10-member team of sophomores, juniors and seniors won the championships for the first time in the school’s history, Principal Craig Haughen said.
The school has participated in the annual event between the two counties for about the past 10 years. This year’s competition took place at Western High School.
Students are asked to answer questions in areas such as history, geography, vocabulary, politics and science.
