Quarterbacks Lead Nominees for Local Honor

Quarterbacks Tim Manning of Trabuco Hills, Danny O’Neil of Mater Dei and Todd Gragnano of Los Alamitos head the list of nominees for the Orange County Athletic Directors’ Assn. boys’ athlete of the year award.

Heading the girls’ list are multi sport standouts Natalie Adams of Huntington Beach and Deanna Doolittle of Woodbridge and Amy Jalewalia of La Quinta, the state’s leading scorer in basketball.

Representatives from the county’s 13 leagues nominated one candidate for each award. The winner will be announced May 22 at the Anaheim Stadium Club. The nominees:

Academy League: Dann Campaigne (St. Margaret’s) and Jen Caruso (Liberty Christian).

Angelus League: Danny O’Neil (Mater Dei) and Saule Sadunas (Mater Dei).

Century League: Zach Cooper (Canyon) and Francesca Rumps (Santa Ana Valley).

Empire League: Todd Gragnano (Los Alamitos) and Theresa Korte (El Dorado).

Express League: Brian Wetsch (Claremont) and Amy Miller (Claremont).

Freeway League: Rene Arias (Fullerton) and Tish Williams (La Habra).

Garden Grove League: Jason Hooper (Santiago) and Amy Jalewalia (La Quinta).

Olympic League: Tony Bergman (Whittier Christian) and Amy Sommerville (Capistrano Valley Christian).

Orange League: Jose Castillo (Valencia) and Jill Schneider (Magnolia).

Pacific Coast League: Tim Manning (Trabuco Hills) and Deanna Doolittle (Woodbridge).

Sea View League: Dan Petrone (Estancia) and Denise Gandara (University).

South Coast League: Andy Marrone (Dana Hills) and Jennifer Rohrig (Mission Viejo).

Sunset League: Brian Higgins (Edison) and Natalie Adams (Huntington Beach).
