Grossmont 2-A League
Grossmont 7, Santana 0--Top-ranked Grossmont (24-2, 7-0) clinched the league title scoring all seven runs in the sixth inning at second-place Santana (19-6, 5-2). Mark Landers had a bases loaded double and Greg Layson a two-run homer to key the inning. Mike Spears and John Tatum (4-0) allowed just two hits--both to Gabe Hernandez.
Grossmont 3-A League
El Capitan 1, Monte Vista 0--Jim Marchesi’s home run gave El Capitan (18-8, 6-1) at least a share of the league title for the first time in 15 years. David Rios (8-1) carried a no-hitter into the seventh and finished with a two hitter with eight strikeouts. .
Helix 10, Granite Hills 5--Helix (16-8-1, 5-2) kept alive its hopes for a tie of El Capitan by downing Granite Hills (17-9-1, 3-4).
. The Highlanders’ Bobby Miller went three for four with five RBIs, and Eric Nicholson won his 11th game without a loss.
