Torrance High’s Williamson on 5-A First Team
Torrance High third baseman Antone Williamson headed three South Bay baseball players named to the All-Southern Section 5-A team by the First Interstate Bank-Amateur Athletic Foundation board of sportswriters.
Williamson, a first-team choice, was one of only four repeat selections. The junior hit .500 (43 for 86) with eight doubles, four triples, five home runs and 34 runs batted in, helping Torrance to a three-way tie for the Bay League title. He also had two saves, including one in the playoffs.
Right fielder Eric Gonzalez, who batted behind Williamson as the Tartars’ cleanup hitter, was selected to the second team. Also a junior, he hit .488 (42 for 86) with 11 doubles and 41 RBIs.
Rolling Hills pitcher-infielder Kirt Kishita, the Bay League most valuable player, was named to the third team. The junior was 9-5 on the mound with two saves and a 3.05 earned-run average. He hit .388 with 17 RBIs.
