Fletcher Advances in San Clemente Surf Meet

Christian Fletcher of San Clemente won his first- and second-round heats to advance in the Body Glove San Clemente Surf tournament Wednesday at the San Clemente Pier.

Fletcher will compete today in a four-man, third-round heat. The competition starts at 7 a.m.

Noah Budroe of Huntington Beach, whom tournament officials said would have been seeded in the top 32 if he had registered on time, finished second in his first heat and won his second heat to advance to the third round.

Matt Archbold, Sean O’Connell, Josh Baxter and Chad Navarro, all of San Clemente, will compete today.

The top 32 seeds, which include San Clemente’s Shane Beschen (rated third), Dino Andino (fifth) and Jim Hogan (eighth), start competition on Saturday.
