Showtime will pay about $2 million for the delayed broadcast rights to the Oct. 25 heavyweight title bout between Buster Douglas and Evander Holyfield, according to a United Press International report.
A television source familiar with the negotiations said the bout--which will be available live on a pay-per-view basis--failed to generate the delayed rights fee that might have been expected. Home Box Office paid about $3 million for the Mike Tyson-Michael Spinks delay in 1988.
