Big Sky Honors 2 Southlanders
Two Southern California players were among three Big Sky Conference Players of the Week, the league announced.
Nevada quarterback Fred Gatlin, a sophomore from Carson, guided the Wolf Pack to a 55-14 conference victory over Northern Arizona. He completed 17 of 28 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters.
Idaho cornerback Reggie Smith, a senior from Northridge, helped the Vandal defense to a 38-35 come-from-behind victory over Southwest Texas State.
Smith blocked a punt with 9:32 to play and recovered it for a touchdown to spark Idaho’s comeback. He added five tackles.
Also named was Boise State linebacker Tim O’Connor, a senior from Concord, who clinched Boise State’s 24-14 Big Sky victory over Weber State when he raced 25 yards with an interception for a touchdown with 20 seconds left.
