Santa Ynez 29, Santa Clara 11--Jeremy Spry scored on a 41-yard run out of a punt formation to give Santa Ynez a 7-0 first quarter lead and the Pirates never looked back.
Spry, a senior tailback, gained 105 yards in 20 carries to pace the offense, and David Henry spearheaded the defense by intercepting two Alan Lisle passes.
Santa Clara running backs Scottie Tripp and Paul Muro combined to gain 173 yards. Tripp gained 95 yards in 14 carries, and Muro added 78 yards and scored one touchdown in 10 carries.
David Scoggin added a pair of touchdowns for Santa Ynez, returning the second-half kickoff 85 yards and later scoring on a 14-pass from quarterback Morgan Halme.
