Margarito Casillas, Hoover: Casillas, the Tornadoes’ No. 7 runner last year as a freshman, makes the jump to the No. 1 position. He timed 15 minutes 43 seconds in the Woodbridge Invitational on Saturday and placed 11th in the senior race.

Dave Hartman, Canyon: The Cowboy senior returns as a favorite for the state Division I title. Sixth in the state meet and first in the Southern Section 4-A Division last year, Hartman has timed 15:12 on the difficult Mt. SAC course.

Chris Miller, Westlake: Miller spent two years playing golf at Westlake before opting to join the track team last spring. A strength runner, the senior ran 15:27 in the Woodbridge meet last week.

Bobby Wiley, Monroe: Wiley is the sixth-fastest returnee in the City Section. He ran 16:12 at Pierce College as a junior and finished 11th in the City final. He clocked 4:26.26 and 9:48.70 last spring for 1,600 and 3,200 on the track.

Jeff Wilson, Newbury Park: The Panther junior returns for his third varsity season. He timed 15:28 in winning his race at the Woodbridge Invitational. Wilson’s biggest asset is his speed: He clocked 4:19 for 1,600 meters as a sophomore.
