TOP PERFORMERS Dana Hills junior Marcus Jenkins had a productive night on both sides of the ball during the Dolphins’ 35-6 victory over Long Beach Millikan. Jenkins, a tailback/cornerback, rushed for 143 yards in 15 carries and a touchdown and also intercepted two Millikan passes, giving him five interceptions for the season.

Tyler Cashman, Los Alamitos split end, caught 14 passes for 145 yards in the Griffins’ victory over Villa Park. Cashman has 25 receptions in the season’s first three games.

Josh Ireland rushed for a school-record 242 yards in 15 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead Santa Margarita a 35-6 victory over Banning.

LATE HEROICS Vince Church knocked down a conversion pass from Anaheim quarterback Phillip Covarrubias with 1:18 left to preserve a 22-20 Kennedy victory. Church also scored three touchdowns for the Irish.

Jake Jacobs’ three-yard scoring run with 2:54 to play gave Woodbridge a 23-22 victory over Trabuco Hills.

NOTEWORTHY June Sparks watched her son, Derek, a running back at Mater Dei, play for the first time in California. She recently moved to Santa Ana from Wharton, Tex.

“I dedicated this whole night to my mom,” said Sparks, who ran for 281 yards and three touchdowns in 13 carries to lead Mater Dei to a 38-21 victory over Santa Ana.

Corona del Mar recorded only one first down in the first three quarters, but it was a big one. It came on a 65-yard scoring pass from Todd Kehrli to Steve Bacon in the third quarter, in a 7-0 victory for the Sea Kings.
