Behind the 18-kill effort of outside hitter Nancy Nicholls, the Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team Tuesday won its third consecutive match, dumping Fresno State, 11-15, 17-15, 15-13, 15-7.
Nicholls, a sophomore from Cleveland High, made only six errors in 41 attacks as CSUN ran its record to 12-5. Twins Kathleen and Marianne Dixon combined for 25 kills and Marianne led the team in kill percentage at 43.5%.
Setter Beth Welch had 56 assists and seven kills.
The match marked the return of right-side hitter Shelly Swalec, who missed two matches with groin and hamstring strains.
The Matadors return to action this weekend at the Nevada Reno Invitational. CSUN plays Texas El Paso on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the tournament opener.
