Orange Lutheran 33, LA Baptist 14--Despite being outgained 231 to 147 in total offense, Orange Lutheran won its homecoming game. LA Baptist’s hopes for a rally were shattered in the third quarter when the Lancers (5-0) scored 13 points despite running only one play from scrimmage during the quarter.

Three touchdowns were scored in a 25-second margin in the quarter, two by Orange Lutheran without an offensive play. After Baptist’s Dane Brown scored on an eight-yard run to cut Orange Lutheran’s lead to 20-6, Phil Matheson of Orange Lutheran returned the kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. Then on the next kickoff, the LA Baptist kick returner fumbled at the Baptist 21. Orange Lutheran’s Lee Back one-hopped the ball and ran into the end zone, giving the Lancers a 33-6 lead.

Capistrano Valley Christian 54, La Verne Lutheran 0--Senior Brian Biegert rushed 26 times for 220 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Capistrano Valley Christian (2-3, 2-0 in the league) at Laguna Beach High School. Capistrano Valley built a 21-0 lead by halftime on two touchdown passes from Chris Turner to Joe Hofferer and a one-yard run by Biegert.
