Sydner’s Big Game Sparks Hawaii, 44-3
Jeff Sydner scored four touchdowns and broke a school record for all-purpose yardage as Hawaii defeated Maine, 44-3, Saturday night.
Hawaii improved to 2-2, and the Black Bears, an NCAA Division I-AA team, fell to 0-5.
Sydner, a sophomore slotback, rushed for 62 yards, caught passes for 87 yards, had 111 yards in punt returns and 12 yards in kickoff returns in amassing 272 all-purpose yards.
The former record of 270 yards was set by Rusty Holt in 1927 and tied by Pete Wilson in 1950.
