TONIGHT’S PREP FOOTBALL : San Clemente Opens League Play at Mission Viejo

San Clemente High School, riding a four-game winning streak, opens South Coast League play against perennial power Mission Viejo at 5:30 tonight at Mission Viejo High.

San Clemente (4-1) hasn’t won a league game in three years and has a 2-24 league record over the past five seasons.

San Clemente is coming off a 35-21 victory over San Diego Madison in which quarterback Ken Dolan passed for 176 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Shane Shanafelt is the team’s leading rusher with 408 yards in 81 carries.

Mission Viejo (4-1) is led by quarterback Tim Snowden and running back Marcellus Chrishon.

Snowden has completed 67 of 96 pass attempts for 874 yards and eight touchdowns.

Chrishon, a transfer to Mission Viejo, rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns last week against Mater Dei and is averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He has 503 yards rushing and nine touchdowns.

Also tonight, Kennedy plays host to Bolsa Grande in a Garden Grove League game at 7:30.
