PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Matheson Gets Two Scores in Two Carries for Orange Lutheran

Running back Phil Matheson carried the ball twice Friday and made the most of his opportunities, running for an 81-yard touchdown and a 41-yard score in the first quarter to lead Orange Lutheran High School to a 39-0 victory over West Valley in a nonleague football game Friday.

West Valley is a new school in Hemet. Coach Tim Taube cleared the Orange Lutheran bench and used nine players at running back. Orange Lutheran (6-0) gained 222 yards on the ground and 16 yards passing.

Danny Folkamanf and Mark Murrietta each rushed for touchdowns, and Aaron Cantu returned an interception 12 yards for a score. Ben Schroeder added a 22-yard field goal and kicked four extra points. Matt DeVaul ran for a two-point conversion on a busted kick attempt.

Brethren Christian 14, Ontario Christian 3--Quarterback Brandon Stott hit wide receiver David Kogler with a 28-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and a 26-yard scoring pass in the second to lead visiting Brethren Christian (6-0) to victory over Ontario Christian (5-1) in the Olympic League opener for both teams.

Stott completed 10 of 16 passes for 143 yards.
