Foyt Goes Home From the Hospital
Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A. J. Foyt was released from Methodist Hospital today and headed home to Houston to begin rehabilitation of his injured legs and feet.
Foyt, 55, sustained the most serious injuries of his racing career on Sept. 23 when his brakes failed and his car slammed into a mound of dirt at the Road America race in Elkhart Lake, Wis.
He was transferred to Methodist Hospital the next day and underwent two operations.
“He’s in good spirits and looking forward to getting home,” Methodist spokesman Jon White said.
Foyt is expected to return to racing next season.
