COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Irvine Valley Tops Orange Coast in Orange Empire Soccer

Greg Daman scored two goals to lead Irvine Valley College to a 3-1 victory over Orange Coast Friday in an Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer match at Harvard Park in Irvine.

Piero Mendiola scored the other goal for Irvine Valley College (10-1-5, 3-1-4 in conference). Andy Strouse scored for Orange Coast (5-2-1).

In Orange Empire Conference water polo:

Saddleback 15, Palomar 14--Matt Dunbar scored with four seconds remaining for Saddleback (8-14, 3-6) at home. Dunbar and Jason Armison each scored four goals for the Gauchos, who trailed, 9-6, at halftime. Palomar was led by Fred Gleason, who scored 10 goals.

In South Coast Conference water polo:

Golden West 21, El Camino 7--Edvard Van Luijin had four goals, and Chad Blanchard and Dave Johnson had three each for visiting Golden West (17-2, 4-0).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:

Golden West 3, Saddleback 0--Kysha Green had 13 kills to lead host Golden West (7-0, 6-0) to a 15-0, 15-9, 15-1 victory. Stacia Allen had 24 assists and five aces.
