CITY SECTION ROUNDUP : Gable Breaks Monroe With 330-Yard Effort
Leon Gable rushed for 330 yards in 39 carries and scored all four of his team’s touchdowns to lead North Hollywood High to a 31-20 victory over Monroe in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game Friday night at Monroe.
Gable, who ran for 327 yards two weeks ago against Van Nuys, scored on runs of 32, one, 13 and 18 yards. Gable gave North Hollywood (3-2, 2-1) a 15-7 lead with his first two touchdowns.
Monroe (0-4-1, 0-3) cut North Hollywood’s lead to 15-14 in the second quarter when running back Kijana Foster ran 27 yards for a touchdown.
Gable scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter to put North Hollywood comfortably ahead. Gable carried 10 times on a 12-play, 80-yard drive on the Huskies’ first possession of the second half and scored from 13 yards.
Monroe quarterback Ramy Atoun completed five of 11 passes for 157 yards.
