It was vintage LeeAnn Rostovsky, making everyone late for dinner before finally putting away her opponent.

It took Rostovsky of La Jolla High three hours, but she finally defeated Krista Kuechler of Torrey Pines, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), Thursday at Kit Carson Park to advance to today’s section individual girls’ tennis final.

In today’s 2:30 p.m. final, she will meet her teammate, senior Lynn Coakley, who defeated Torrey Pines freshman Betsy Miringoff, 6-4, 6-4.

The second-seeded Rostovsky, who once played a four-hour juniors match and went three sets Wednesday with Vanessa Rooks of San Pasqual, said she was not fazed by the length of Thursday’s match.

Rostovsky, a senior, had a match point in the 10th game of the third set, but Kuechler fought back and was two points from a victory before making unforced errors.

“I lost a lot of nerves when I got up,” said Kuechler, a senior.

Rostovsky also conceded that she was nervous, but said she settled down in the tiebreaker.

“I was confident in the tiebreaker,” said Rostovsky, who let three match points slip away in the tiebreaker before Kuechler netted a forehand to end the match. “I guess I’ve played enough of them. I don’t freak out when it’s 6-6.”

Coakley, seeded first, was ahead, 6-4, 3-0, until Miringoff, seeded sixth, ran off four consecutive games. But even then, Miringoff said she didn’t feel comfortable against the hard-hitting Coakley.

“All of my points, she could have hit for winners,” Miringoff said. “I don’t think she cares whether it goes in or out. I’m up, 4-3, and she didn’t care. She just started hitting winners again.”

In the doubles semifinals, top-seeded Summer Redondo and Marni Hunt of Coronado defeated eighth-seeded Kate Pyle and Isabel Schoepflin of La Jolla Country Day, 6-4, 7-5. Hunt and Redondo will face second-seeded Katy Heyden and Leah Splavec of Poway, who defeated fourth-seeded Janine Schiess and Maggie Marshall of Bishop’s, 6-3, 6-1. The doubles final begins at 1 p.m.
