Good Barry, fastest qualifier from last weeks’ eight trials, heads a field of 10 2-year-olds that will contest the $334,000 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity on Saturday night at Los Alamitos.

The 350-yard Burke Memorial is one of the richest races at the winter meet at Los Alamitos, and a good field that includes Vital Sign and Jacks Dash will challenge the fastest qualifier Good Barry. The Burke Memorial will be the ninth race on the 13-race program with first post at 7:25 p.m.

Eight trials to the Burke Memorial were conducted Nov. 28 with the horses with the 10 fastest times returning for Saturday’s final, where the winner will earn $150,300.

The Bob Baffert-trained Good Barry won the last of the eight trial heats and posted the fastest qualifying time when he covered the 350 yards in 17.57 seconds. Good Barry hit the wire a neck in front of Dashes Dish, which had the second-fastest qualifying time of 17.61 seconds.

Good Barry, the son of Barrymore, has three wins from 10 starts this year with earnings of $46,625.

Dashes Dish finished third in an allowance race at Los Alamitos before her runner-up effort in the trials. Despite having the second fastest qualifying time, Dashes Dish will likely be a long-shot in the final.
