HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Martin Paces Cleveland, 59-51

Junior guard Brandon Martin scored a game-high 25 points to pace Cleveland High to a 59-51 victory over Centennial on Wednesday in a second-round game of the L. A. Invitational tournament at Woodbury College.

Cleveland (6-2) led at halftime, 34-16.

Kenny Collins scored 15 points for the Cavaliers, and Levar Watson scored a game-high 16 points for Centennial (5-2).

In other boys’ basketball games:

Hart 56, Antelope Valley 55--Antelope Valley’s Ryan Branch hit a layup just after the buzzer sounded and Hart escaped with a nonleague win at Antelope Valley.

Hart (4-4) was led by Marty Downen with 18 points and Keith Halcovich with 17. For Antelope Valley (4-6), which hit more three-point shots (10) than two-point field goals (nine), Brock Chase had a game-high 21.

Notre Dame 58, Servite 55--G. C. Marcaccini scored 23 points in the second half, including four three-point baskets, to lead the Knights (8-3) to a nonleague victory over Servite (6-2) at Notre Dame.

The score was tied, 26-26, at halftime. Marcaccini was seven of 12 from the field in the second half to finish with 34 points.

Camp Kilpatrick 79, Yeshiva 60--Marlon Randolph scored a game-high 20 points and Charles Bethea had 17 off the bench as Camp Kilpatrick (3-4) won a nonleague game at Yeshiva.

Center Barnard Wallace scored 14 points for Camp Kilpatrick.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Westlake 69, Fountain Valley 43--Dani O’Byrne scored a game-high 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to pace Westlake in a second-round game in the Simi Valley tournament.

Westlake held a 37-21 lead at halftime. Lauren Goldstine and Marleey Organ each scored 14 for the Warriors (3-1). Julie Murdent scored 12 for Fountain Valley.

Dos Pueblos 48, Burbank 43--Renada Vavrusa scored 13 points and Danielle Pershing added 12, but Burbank still fell in a consolation quarterfinal of the Simi Valley tournament.

Kimberly Corbert (17 points) and Ana Dachenhaus (15) led Dos Pueblos, which will play Saugus in a consolation semifinal Friday.

Saugus 56, Moorpark 27--Collette Adams scored 14 points and Tiffany Boone added 10 to lead the Centurions (1-7) in a consolation quarterfinal of the Simi Valley tournament.

Apple Valley 43, La Reina 23--Theresa Pasinoski scored 10 of La Reina’s 23 points in a consolation quarterfinal of the Simi Valley tournament.

Chaminade 69, Loretto Canaty 7--Michelle Oberman scored 16 points and Melissa Helmkamp added 12 as Chaminade rolled to a win in the consolation semifinals of the Marlborough tournament.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Chatsworth 3, Simi Valley 2--The Chancellors took a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime, then withstood a Simi Valley rally in the last three minutes of the nonleague match at Chatsworth.

Simi Valley scored twice in the final three minutes on goals by Amy Hunter and Stacy Dolder.

Kris Bassler, Mary Oades and Kim Costantino scored goals for Chatsworth (7-0), the two-time defending City Section champion.
