Despite being bedridden for most of the day, Titus roused herself and scored 61 points--the highest single-game total in Orange County girls’ basketball history--in a 78-50 victory over Los Alamitos. Titus scored 15 in the first quarter, 10 in the second, 17 in the third and all 19 of her team’s points in the fourth quarter to break the record of 60 that Amy Jalewalia set last season at La Quinta. Titus, 6-feet-2, became the second Loara basketball player to set a county scoring record this season. Tes Whitlock scored 68 for the boys’ team in an Irvine tournament game in December. “I didn’t really realize that I was the only one making the baskets,” Titus said. “It just happened. It’s kind of a neat feeling.” Titus leads the Saxons in scoring (26.7 per game), rebounding (13.4), blocked shots (3.8) and steals (3.7). Other top performers:

Natalie Hubbart, who scored two goals for El Modena in a 2-1 soccer victory over Fullerton.

Erika Miller, who had 21 points and 15 rebounds for Edison in a 63-51 victory over Huntington Beach. Miller scored a game-high 18 points against Fountain Valley, but the Barons won, 49-40.
