SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP : Agoura Posts an Upset Without Martin, 82-68

Agoura High, playing without leading scorer Sean Martin, rallied behind David Siegel’s 24 points and stunned Thousand Oaks, 82-68, Wednesday night in a Marmonte League game at Agoura.

Siegel was moved into a starting role after Martin, who averages 28.4 points a game, suffered a sprained ankle a week ago.

The Chargers (8-3, 2-1 in league play) also received big performances from Eddie Corridori (12 points, 12 rebounds, six assists) and Dennis Fowler (18 points, seven assists).

Thousand Oaks (10-3, 1-2) was paced by Chris Loll with a game-high 36 points, 17 rebounds and six blocked shots.

In other boys’ basketball games:

Westlake 71, Simi Valley 50--Westlake won a Marmonte League game behind a front line of forwards Rob Hoover (18 points) and Esau Blanco (17) and center John Van Spyk (16). Danny Alexander scored 18 for Simi Valley.

Channel Islands 60, Newbury Park 45--Noe Noyola scored 18 points and Stephane Brown added 12 points and 14 rebounds as visiting Channel Islands (11-2, 3-0) won a Marmonte League game.

Chaminade 66, Crespi 64--Chaminade made its last five free throws to wrest control of the Mission League game against visiting Crespi (6-9, 0-3).

Kent Cote scored 19 points to lead a balanced Chaminade attack. Richard Fei, Travis Hall and Matt Ansoorian each scored 11 points for Chaminade (4-10, 1-3).

Buena 95, Oxnard 84--Lance Fay scored a game-high 27 points to lead Buena (8-6, 2-2) in a Channel League game at Buena.

Matt Bortolin and Nick Houchin each had 16 points for Buena. Oxnard’s Antonio Williams had 21.

Ventura 81, Hueneme 64--Chris Rockwell scored a game-high 23 points off the bench and Randy Martinez added 19 as Ventura (7-6, 3-1) rolled to a Channel League win at Hueneme.

Harvard 68, Bell-Jeff 56--Spencer Miller scored 12 points and grabbed a school-record 23 rebounds and Markus Puhvel and Tarlin Ray each added 14 points for Harvard (11-3, 2-0) in a San Fernando Valley League game.

Oakwood 90, Windward 28--Telly Roberts (19 points), Joel Goldsmith (17), Steve Slome (16) and Matt Williams (13) scored in double figures for Oakwood (4-7) in a Liberty League opener.

Holy Martyrs 87, Yeshiva 62--Apik Minassian scored 34 points for Holy Martyrs (4-6) in a Liberty League opener.

Camp Kilpatrick 98, St. John’s 66--LaFrance Bates scored a team-high 17 points to lead Camp Kilpatrick (10-5) at St. John’s.

La Reina 4, Moorpark 0--Tiffany Varley scored two goals for La Reina (10-0, 5-0) in a Tri-Valley League match at Moorpark.

Crescenta Valley 4, San Dimas 0--Crescenta Valley (11-0) won a nonleague match at San Dimas.
