HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Simi Valley Boys Roll Along in Soccer, 4-0
Paul Whittle scored two goals and teammates Mark Cargnel and Kevin Nyklouk each added a goal as the Simi Valley High boys’ soccer team blanked Camarillo, 4-0, in a Marmonte League match Thursday.
Goalie Mark Jones recorded the shutout for the Pioneers (13-2-1, 6-1 in league play), who are ranked No. 2 in the Southern Section 4-A Division.
In another boys’ soccer match:
Agoura 2, Thousand Oaks 1--Senior striker Jason Flashberg scored the winning goal in the 78th minute of the Marmonte League match. Senior midfielder Danny Mesirow scored the other goal for Agoura (7-7-3, 3-4).
Ken O’Connor scored for Thousand Oaks (2-5 in league play).
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Crescenta Valley 5, Immaculate Heart 0--Nancy Allen and Jennifer Beall each scored two goals for Crescenta Valley (14-0) and goalkeeper Kimberlee Carroll had four saves in a nonleague match.
Newbury Park 1, Westlake 0--Rachel Muir scored on an assist from Lorie Powers in the first half for Newbury Park (13-3-1, 4-1-1) in a Marmonte League match.
Birmingham 3, Kennedy 1--Erin Saltzman scored three goals for Birmingham (4-2-1, 3-0) in the Valley League match and Lucy Sida assisted on two of her goals.
WRESTLING
San Fernando 33, Canoga Park 30--San Fernando’s Jerry Anaya pinned Canoga Park’s Mike Pram at 2:34 of the 189-pound match to clinch the Valley League match for San Fernando (2-0).
