After a monthlong search, Westminster police found and arrested a murder suspect Friday night at a Pepperdine University basketball game on the Malibu campus.

Jeffrey Blaine Roberts, 19, of West Covina was the second suspect arrested in two days in the Dec. 29 robbery-homicide at Goldport Jewelers, 15372 Beach Blvd. in Westminster, police said.

“After questioning a few people,” Police Lt. Andrew Hall said, “we learned he was a big Pepperdine basketball fan. We found him at the game and arrested him.”

Roberts offered no resistance, police said.

The store owner, Duyet Dinh Vu, 42, of Garden Grove, had been tied up but managed to free himself, only to be killed by two gunshot wounds in an ensuing shoot-out, police said.

The first suspect, Armand Torrell Washington, also 19, was arrested Thursday at a West Covina residence, police said. Both men were held without bail at Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder and robbery.

Police said physical evidence at the store led them to Washington and Roberts. They would not elaborate.
