PREP ROUNDUP : Galloway Scores 22 in Kennedy’s Victory

Junior Jermaine Galloway scored a game-high 22 points as Kennedy High School defeated La Quinta, 84-61, in a Garden Grove League boys’ basketball game Monday at La Quinta.

Galloway added 17 rebounds and five blocked shots for first-place Kennedy (14-8, 11-1), which has a one-game lead over Pacifica with two games left.

Jeff Cummins had 17 points and eight rebounds and Morgan Murakami scored 10 points for Kennedy. Dusty DuPree had 13 points for La Quinta (3-9, 6-15).

In other Garden Grove League games:

Pacifica 59, Los Amigos 56--Scott Lesser and Kevin Gaughen scored 17 points each for visiting Pacifica (14-6, 10-2).

Garden Grove 73, Bolsa Grande 58--Mark Perry scored 20 points and Tim Vasser added 19 for third-place Garden Grove (12-10, 8-4).

In South Coast League boys’ soccer:

Mission Viejo 3, Irvine 0--Phil Darke had nine saves for visiting Mission Viejo (17-5-1, 7-1), which set a school single-season record for shutouts with 15. Mission Viejo had 14 shutouts in 1988-89.
