Sylmar, Coach Ousted Early

Sylmar High suffered a forfeit to Sherman Oaks CES when Coach Larry Link was called for three consecutive technical fouls in an East Valley League basketball game Wednesday.

The Knights (10-11, 6-4 in league play) were leading, 12-2, after three minutes when Link left the bench to dispute a foul call. Referee Joe Sanchez twice told Link to sit down and be quiet, accenting each order with a technical. On a third warning, Sanchez told Link that if he didn’t quiet down, he would award Sylmar (1-20, 0-11) a forfeit.

Link, who was complaining that the referees were out of position, told Sanchez to give him another technical. Sanchez did.
