GIRLS’ ROUNDUP : Matsumoto Paces Kennedy Victory
Lynly Matsumoto did a little bit of everything for Kennedy High School as the Fighting Irish defeated Los Amigos, 43-37, in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Wednesday.
Matsumoto had 12 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and eight steals for visiting Kennedy.
Valerie Ruiz added 13 points for Kennedy, which trailed, 30-27, at the end of the third quarter.
In other league games:
Santiago 60, La Quinta 48--Becky Elcock had 20 points and Stefanie Cave had 14 points for host Santiago (12-10, 7-6). Heather Brannan had 25 points for La Quinta (5-8 in league).
Rancho Alamitos 77, Garden Grove 59-Shannon James scored 19 points and Timerie James 18 for Rancho Alamitos (23-0, 13-0) at Garden Grove. Anita Stecker scored 16 points for Rancho Alamitos.
