DIVISIONS II-AA, II-A GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP

In other Division II-AA games:

Brea-Olinda 99, Orange 27--Jinelle Williams scored 26 points and had 19 rebounds, and Jody Anton scored 16 points and had nine rebounds for host Brea-Olinda (25-1). Nicole Erickson added 15 for Brea-Olinda.

Santiago 56, Canyon 55--Becky Elcock scored 23 points and America Robledo added 19 for Santiago (14-10). Erin Waggoner led Canyon with 26 points. Robledo made two free throws with four seconds left to give Santiago a 56-52 lead, and Lori Dalby of Canyon (14-9) hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the score close.

Edison 79, Elsinore 18--Talia Crooks scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for visiting Edison. Joan Paje added 20 points, including six three-point shots, for Edison. Edison took a 30-4 first-quarter lead.

Riverside North 72, Katella 39--Marisa Frial scored 24 points and Kisa Hughes had 25 points and 18 rebounds for host North (23-1). Chris Carrillo scored 13 points for Katella (7-16).

In Division II-A games:

Kennedy 62, Rio Mesa 54--Valerie Ruiz had 25 points, eight rebounds and seven steals for host Kennedy. Linly Matsumoto scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Michelle Maeda scored 12 points.

Woodbridge 60, Burroughs 34--Deanna Harry scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead host Woodbridge, the No. 5-seeded team in II-A. Harry also had five blocked shots. Jenny Fenton added 13 points for Woodbridge.

El Modena 51, Bolsa Grande 32--Junior Forward Melizza Benitez scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds for host El Modena (16-4). Teammates Kathy Farina and Collette Williams each had 12, and point guard Myhanh Nguyen had eight assists. Lien Quach scored 12 points for Bolsa Grande (7-17).

La Habra 76, Yucaipa 24--Zrinka Kristich scored 23 points and had 12 rebounds and five assists for La Habra (20-5). Ana Kristich added 16 points and Leslie Ferguson had 12 for the Highlanders. La Habra jumped to a 23-6 first-quarter lead and held Yucaipa scoreless in the second quarter to take a 36-6 lead at the half.
