In other Division II games:

Grossmont 70, Monte Vista 58--Grossmont started three players 5-foot-8 or shorter. And the Foothillers fell behind 10-0 in the first 3 1/2 minutes. Lights out, right?

Wrong. Sophomore guard Mike Kingsley, who was averaging 12 points per game, scored a season-high 27 points and keyed Grossmont’s full-court pressure with 10 steals. The Foothillers (16-8), who didn’t score until Jared Larson hit a three-pointer with 4:24 left in the first quarter, trailed 48-45 after three periods but hit 18 of 20 free throws in the fourth quarter, with Kingsley hitting nine of 10.

Monte Vista (16-8), which committed 26 turnovers, got 21 points from Jabari Williams.

Grossmont will meet top-seeded El Camino in the quarterfinals Friday.

El Camino 92, El Cajon Valley 50--The top-seeded Wildcats (20-4) made their first seven shots and bolted to a 15-0 lead. Heath McCoy scored 15 points and dished out seven assists and Jeff Reeves scored 17--he had five three-pointers--to lead El Camino. Bryant Westbrook had 14 as 13 of 16 players scored.

Torrey Pines 102, Castle Park 46--Craig Brown scored 21, Bill Scheibe 16 and Peter Bates finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the second-seeded Falcons (21-7). Torrey Pines led at halftime, 50-14. Eric Bell scored 18 for the Trojans.

Division I

Poway 94, Granite Hills 38--Top-seeded Poway (17-6) jumped to a 50-19 halftime lead. Bill Rarity and Kyle Milling each scored 16 points for the Titans. Milling and Kirk Hipple each grabbed eight rebounds.

San Dieguito 60, Bonita Vista 58 OT--Once wasn’t enough for San Dieguito’s Matt de la Pena, who just had to be the hero twice. With 12 seconds left in regulation, de la Pena hit a three-pointer to tie the score at 58 to send the game into overtime. De la Pena then made two free throws to clinch the victory for the Mustangs (15-11). De la Pena finished with 29 points. Rope Perry, who scored 32 points for Bonita Vista (14-9), missed a shot at the buzzer. San Dieguito plays at Poway in the quarterfinals Friday.

San Diego 73, Patrick Henry 45--The Patriots (7-18) kept the tempo slow in the first half but the Cavers (5-17) built a steady 14-point lead at halftime and ran away in the second half behind Marino Bowman’s 15 points and Mike Watson’s 13. John Pike had 27, including five three-pointers, for Patrick Henry. San Diego was playing without John McKenna, who was ruled ineligible by a Superior Court judge earlier in the day. Because McKenna was ruled ineligible, the Cavers had to forfeit the three games they won after his father obtained a temporary restraining order to allow him to continue playing. The forfeits--combined with the victory over Patrick Henry--give the Cavers a 2-20 record.

Rancho Buena Vista 67, Mt. Miguel 49--Visiting RBV (13-13) led by three entering the fourth quarter, picked up the defensive intensity, and outscored Mt. Miguel 21-6 in the decisive period. Darryl Parker and Brad Grubaugh scored seven and eight points, respectively, in the final quarter. Parker finished with a team-high 18 points, Grubaugh with 15. Abe Ajlouny scored 10. Parker did not compete at 100% and he received low-voltage electrical treatment for his back during the bus trip to Spring Valley. Domingo Rivera scored 14 points for the Matadors, but only three in the fourth quarter. The Longhorns made nine of nine free throws in the fourth quarter and a school record 16 of 17 for the game.

Division III

La Jolla 80, West Hills 67--Craig Woodall had 14 rebounds in addition to his 33 points for La Jolla (3-19). La Jolla led by seven (35-28) at halftime but outscored West Hills, 19-9, in the third quarter to pull away. West Hills finished 1-19.
