Quinn Says Players Were Honored

I read the South Bay sports page (Friday morning) and was pleased with your continuing coverage of Loyola Marymount athletics. However, the note about Tricia Gibson and Lynn Flanagan is incorrect. I would like to set the record straight.
(Women’s basketball Coach) Todd Corman asked me to be present at a ceremony honoring these two fine athletes. . . . The women’s fans and parents were present at the women’s game. We honored Tricia and Lynn in a very nice ceremony before their game and presented them with . . . elaborate gifts. It was appropriate to do this for their fans while also not getting into a comparison with the men. It was also done in dignity.
BRIAN QUINN
Loyola athletic director
