COUNTYWIDE : Body in Car May Be That of Missing Man

A Camarillo man who was reported missing earlier this month may be the stabbing victim whose body was discovered in the trunk of a car parked in a Fillmore neighborhood, authorities said Monday.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Detective Raymond Bustillos said authorities have not yet been able to make a positive identification of the badly decomposed body, which was discovered Saturday when residents of King Street reported smelling a foul odor.

Bustillos declined to reveal the name of the Camarillo man or comment further on what led detectives to link him to the case.

Deputies who were called to the scene opened the trunk of the car, which had been parked in the neighborhood for one to three weeks, and found the body, authorities said.

The man, whose death has been ruled a homicide, died of multiple stab wounds, the coroner’s office said.

It appears the man was killed somewhere else, and his car was then driven to the residential location, Bustillos said.

Detectives have no suspects but the investigation is continuing, Bustillos said.
