Mosquitoes, Trout Bite Early on Owens River
It is still two months before the Eastern Sierra trout opener, but the rainbow bite is already on in the year-round areas of the Owens River near Bishop.
Daytime temperatures have been in the 70s, and the California Department of Fish and Game has been planting heavily.
Darlene Nichols of the Bishop Chamber of Commerce reported: “With this unusually warm weather, even the fly-fishing has been tremendous. The mosquitoes are out, so anything that looks like a little mosquito will work.”
