COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL : Golden West Beats Cypress in 10th

Jason White’s double drove in three runs in a four-run 10th inning that gave Golden West a 15-11 victory over Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference game Saturday at Cypress College.

It was the fifth victory in as many days for Golden West (10-7, 5-1).

Cypress led, 10-4, after six innings, but Golden West eventually took an 11-10 lead by scoring seven runs in the seventh inning. Cypress scored one in the seventh to tie the score.

White had three hits, scored and had four runs batted in. Jason Briffssey hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning for Golden West. Derek Ogle (4-1) pitched 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief for the victory.

Troy Babbitt had four hits and four RBIs for Cypress (13-6, 3-3).

In other Orange Empire Conference baseball games:

Riverside 11, Saddleback 1--Curt Callicott had three hits and four runs batted in and Larry Stahlhoefer had three hits and two RBIs and scored three runs to lead Riverside (16-6, 2-3). Riverside got 14 hits off five Saddleback pitchers. Gary Adcock (4-1) struck out eight, walked two and allowed seven hits for Riverside. Rob Nye raised his batting average to .432 with three singles and Lou Benbow had a home run in the third inning for Saddleback (7-10, 1-5).

Rancho Santiago 5, Fullerton 4--The Dons scored three runs in the eighth on a two-run double by Steve Grack and an RBI double by Wayne Hefft to improve to 20-3, 6-0 in the conference. Fullerton is 15-8, 2-3.
