Hilltop 11, Escondido 5--Hilltop’s Sergio Guzman hit two ground-rule doubles and drove in four runs before being ejected in the fourth inning for running into Escondido’s catcher while trying to score. The catcher had the ball and was waiting to apply the tag.

No. 6 Hilltop improved to 4-0-1 and advanced to the tournament’s championship game against Poway scheduled for Saturday at Hilltop (2 p.m.).

Chula Vista 5, El Capitan 3--Donnie Edwards doubled in the first, homered with one on in the seventh and drove in three runs for Chula Vista. Both teams are 1-4.

Saint Augustine 4, San Marcos 3--In the bottom of the seventh, with two outs and bases loaded, left fielder John Mozerka singled in the winning run for Saints (2-3). Senior Jorge Inzunza gave up five hits and struck out seven. No. 7 San Marcos dropped to 3-2.

Pirate Tournament

Grossmont 8, El Camino 3--Benny Craig went two for three with three RBIs and scored a run for host and No. 3 Grossmont (7-0). Teammate Cory Schweer also picked up two hits. For El Camino (1-4), Daniel Esposita was two for three with an RBI.

Fallbrook 8, Oceanside 2--Rick Brown drove in two runs and had two hits for Fallbrook (4-1).

Rancho Buena Vista 5, San Pasqual 4--Mario McLean (three for five, three RBIs) delivered a bloop double that bounced wildly over the right fielder’s head, allowing Rich Davis (three for five) to score from first base with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Jim Perez (2-0) pitched five innings of shutout relief, striking out seven, for RBV (4-1). The Eagles fell to 2-4.

Crawford Tournament

La Jolla 11, Morse 1--La Jolla’s Craig Woodall gave up two hits in the first inning but didn’t allow a hit thereafter. Teammate Carl Maggio went three for four, scored twice and drove in two runs as La Jolla improved to 4-1. Morse fell to 2-3.

Crawford 8, Clairemont 3--Crawford won its first game of the season as Keith Klayman went the distance and struck out nine. Miguel Maldonado contributed a two-run double to Crawford’s offense.

Crawford improved to 1-4 as Clairemont remained winless, 0-4-1.

GMC Tournament

San Diego 4, Marian Catholic 4--The game was called after eight innings due to darkness.

Nonleague

Army-Navy 8, Tri-City Christian 1--Mark Hankins struck out nine and Rodolfo Hererra went two for four with a triple and two RBIs for Army-Navy (1-1).

Softball

Hilltop-Moose Tournament

San Pasqual 20, Lincoln 0--Renee Williams and Erin Combe pitched a perfect game for San Pasqual. Williams faced nine batters and had eight strikeouts and Erin Combe faced six and had three. Pam Shoemaker was four for four with a home run in the second inning.

Hilltop 17, Marian Catholic 0--Jackie Hill had eight strikeouts in three innings and Becky Gomez was two for five with two RBIs for Hilltop (2-0).
