ASU Dismisses Ex-Capistrano Valley Player

Share

Tommy Adams, a former Capistrano Valley High School player, has been dismissed from the Arizona State baseball team for disciplinary reasons, the school has announced.

Adams, a junior outfielder who was an all-Six Pac selection last season, had missed 19 games this season after sustaining a bruised kidney and a contusion of the spleen in a Feb. 8 game in Tallahassee, Fla.

He had received medical clearance March 12 to play at designated hitter, but not in the field, and had been wearing a bulletproof vest to protect his spleen.

The dismissal came after Adams, with three prior suspensions in his ASU career, violated three team rules “of a curfew-type nature” during a trip to Hawaii, a school official said.

Picked as one of the top 10 college outfielders in the country by Baseball America magazine, Adams will be eligible for the June draft.
