Schott Home After Serious Illness
Cincinnati Red owner Marge Schott was released from Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati on Sunday after fighting off a severe infection that could have killed her, the hospital said.
Schott, 62, has been ordered to rest at home as she completes her recovery from what a hospital statement called a “catastrophic illness.”
A hospital statement said Schott was admitted with a skin infection of the legs, and the disease developed into a bacterial infection.
“She was . . . suffering kidney damage, kidney failure, pneumonia and bleeding from her stomach, all as a consequence of this near-lethal shock state due to severe infection,” the statement said.
