HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL ROUNDUP : West Nails Down No-Hitter for Thousand Oaks

Share

Having come one out shy of a no-hitter in the season opener against Bell Gardens, Thousand Oaks High’s Adam West completed the job Friday when he held Camarillo hitless in a 9-2 Marmonte League victory. The win was the eighth in a row for the Lancers (10-4, 3-1 in Marmonte League play).

West, a senior left-hander, allowed only one ball to leave the infield, a fly out in the seventh inning. He struck out seven, walked five and became the first Thousand Oaks pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Anthony Mohr did so against Westlake in 1984. Chuck Crim, now with the Milwaukee Brewers, pitched two no-hitters for Thousand Oaks in 1979.

Thousand Oaks third baseman David Skeels made a nice play on a drag bunt in the fifth to help preserve the no-hitter.
