Feedlot Cattle Figure Is at a 17-Year High

WASHINGTON —
The number of cattle being fed for the slaughter market in the seven major beef states--including California--is at a 17-year high, the Agriculture Department reported.
The Department estimated March 1 feedlot inventories at 8.97 million head, 8% higher than a year ago and 13% more than two years ago.
