$300,000 Fire Destroys House in Quartz Hill
A two-story house in Quartz Hill in the Antelope Valley was destroyed by fire Friday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
More than 40 firefighters fought the two-alarm blaze in the 5900 block of Pomegranate Place, which started at about 10 a.m., Fire Department spokesman Howard Spinrad said.
Although firefighters were endangered by the collapse of the house’s roof, there were no injuries, he said.
It took about an hour to bring the fire under control. Damage was estimated at about $300,000, Spinrad said.
