Mexico’s Marcos Villasana held onto his World Boxing Council featherweight crown by stopping Colombian Rafael Zuniga at 2:08 of the sixth round of their title fight Thursday night in Mexico City.
American referee Vince Delgado stopped the fight as Villasana delivered repeated blows to Zuniga, who was unable to do more than try to protect himself. Although on his feet, he appeared to be barely conscious.
Villasana, 30, improved his record to 44-7-3, while Zuniga, 27, fell to 23-3.
