Valley’s Garrick Signs to Play Basketball at Mesa College

Valley College basketball player Rick Garrick said Thursday that he has signed a letter of intent to play next season at Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colo.
Garrick (6-foot-2, 175 pounds), a 1989 graduate of Chatsworth High, averaged 16.5 points as a sophomore at Valley. He played both the point-guard and off-guard positions for the Monarchs.
Garrick said he will receive a full scholarship from Mesa, a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Seven Cal Lutheran softball players were selected to NAIA All-District 3 teams.
First-team selections included: pitcher Leslie Stevens, catcher Cheryl Aschenbach, infielder Kim White and outfielder Brenda Frafjord.
Pitcher Marjie Sievers, infielder Alysa Mathews and outfielder Laree Reynolds were named to the second team.
Pete Washington and Brenda Frafjord of Cal Lutheran were chosen NAIA District 3 players of the week in baseball and softball for the week ending April 27.
Washington, a senior designated-hitter from College of the Canyons and North Hollywood High, was 10 for 15 with eight runs batted in and two home runs in four games.
Frafjord, a junior center fielder from Whitefish Bay, Wis., had 13 hits, three triples and 15 RBIs in six games.
