SOUTHERN SECTION 3-A SOFTBALL PLAYOFFS : Woodbridge Falls to Top-Seeded Don Lugo
Top-seeded Don Lugo scored two runs in the fifth inning and defeated Woodbridge, 2-0, in a Southern Section 3-A quarterfinal softball game Friday in Chino.
Don Lugo’s Kathy O’Brien pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12. Jessica Montgomery, who singled in the second inning, was Woodbridge’s only baserunner. O’Brien (19-1) retired the final 17 batters.
One of the runs Don Lugo scored in the fifth off pitcher Alison Ward was unearned; the other came on a sacrifice fly.
