Lakeside
The pilot of a four-seat Cessna, who was killed when his plane slammed against the side of El Capitan Mountain in Lakeside, was identified Thursday.
Gerald L. Brown of the 2000 block of Bonita Street in Lemon Grove died when his white, single-engine plane crashed and burned on the east-facing side of the mountain at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 1 mile up the side of the mountain from the El Capitan Reservoir boat dock, Sheriff’s Deputy Pearl Janulewicz said. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Brown, 46, an equipment operator, is survived by his wife, Connie.
